Art trail in the city

The association 13ARTS, in partnership with the municipality of Paimboeuf, has initiated the creation of a temporal route in the city with the participation of the collective 100pression and two of its artists: WIDE and Francis PERSU. Paimblotin(e)s, visitors, tourists, cyclists of the Loire à vélo, all, were able to see and witness the birth of three murals made by two members of the Nantes collective 100pression: WIDE and Francis PERSU. To embellish the territory and modernize the public space, to affirm the strong identity of Paimbœuf, to incite to discover the city and to develop the tourist attractiveness by another form of art and expression, here is all the ambition of this project led by the association 13ARTS in partnership with the Commune. The objective was to highlight the maritime, historical, industrial and natural past of our city through urban art. The Hangar We begin this journey with a mysterious look, that of Jacques-Noël SANÉ nicknamed "The Vauban of the Navy" Born in Brest in 1740 and died in Paris in 1831, he was the most brilliant French naval engineer of the age of sail. Then on the Loire side, we discover the boat "La Méduse" built in Paimbœuf. Napoleon was interested in it during his visit in 1808. It was inaugurated and acclaimed by the crowd on July 1, 1810 before sinking on July 2, 1816, resulting in the death of 160 people, 147 of whom were abandoned on a makeshift raft. The shipwreck inspired Théodore Géricault in 1818-1819 to paint the monumental picture "The Raft of the Medusa", which is exhibited in the Louvre Museum. The passage of the Acadians Here a colourful mix inspired by Paimboeuf's industrial past and its natural heritage. You will find the Angélique des estuaires (fever herb), a rare French endemic plant which is threatened and protected. As well as Gratiola, also known as poor man's grass, or Little foxglove.. The Kuhlmann factory is also represented. For 80 years, the town of Paimboeuf was home to the largest industrial centre in the south of the estuary, the Kuhlmann factory, which in 1970 still had more than 700 employees. Very quickly active in the production of fertilizers, the industrial group was a pioneer in the development of superphosphates. Until its closure in 1996, the site manufactured tetraethyl lead, which is essential to the composition of petrol. By creating housing, sports clubs and a school, this factory has marked the history of Paimbœuf. The courtyard of the Georges Brassens Cultural Centre (26, boulevard Dumesnildot) Pierre Chevry, owner of the Kuhlmann factory in Paimboeuf is represented here. Born in Haute-Marne in 1894, he was an engineer, a polytechnician and a member of the Resistance. He was responsible for warning his employees before the Germans arrived. He died in deportation on 17 August 1944. The factory was reborn and on the fresco we find his logo (a blue K) as well as his motto NEC PLURIBUS IMPAR (Everything is possible). Three murals in 3 places: - The HANGAR, Sadi-Carnot quay - The Passage des Acadiens, quai Sadi-Carnot - The courtyard of the Georges-Brassens Cultural Centre (26, boulevard Dumesnildot) Who are they? The association 13ARTS was created by Carine and Gaël, two graffiti and industrial heritage enthusiasts. It was established in the former Paimboeuf Health Centre, located on rue Pierre-Jubau, in order to develop a place of exhibition and freedom of multidisciplinary artistic expression. The association aims to make culture accessible in a broad and transversal way; to orchestrate the meeting between the public and the artists; and to promote creation, urban heritage and local talents through street art. Persu has been active in the French graffiti scene since the beginning of the 90s, where he intervenes under various pseudonyms. It is within the OCT crew that he develops a technique that allows him to realize everything, from the simple "flop" to the ultra colorful fresco. Although inspired by comics in the elaboration of his characters and landscapes, his specialty remains the "Wild style", a complex lettering style. Drawing tirelessly, it is the links between the letters that fascinate him and with which he plays the most. Since his childhood, Wide has been fascinated by abandoned spaces, given up by man to the wild. These modern ruins remind us of our own temporality, of the impermanence of everything. For the past 20 years, he has been making paintings, essentially ephemeral, in these decaying places. This practice has developed in Wide an interest in the obsolescence produced by time and has led him in this search for aestheticization of the ephemeral to Glitch art. This art consists in recognizing beauty in the display errors of digital images, in the form of fragmentations, repetitions and artifacts. Wide tries to reproduce in painting this aesthetic of technological obsolescence that can appear on our LCD screens. The collection of passport photos, testimonies of a moment in time, and the capture of words taken from the stream of continuous information that is both "news" and already outdated, constitute the raw material of Wide's studio work. He explores these themes in works that tend towards abstraction, experimenting with different media and techniques.
