In Saint-Nazaire, the "chemin des douaniers", or coastal path, offers magnificent views and offers you an unsuspected walk between Saint-Nazaire and Pornichet.

Along the way you will come across many fishing grounds, these water huts typical of the Atlantic coast and which make more than one hiker dream! This "balcony overlooking the sea" is pure enchantment, with its scents of resin and broom, its immense maritime pines and holm oaks that bring a Mediterranean touch. Even if the official starting point of the GR®34 is located at the level of the bridge of Saint-Nazaire near the Chantiers de l'Atlantique, the departure can be done at different places such as the Place du Commando in Saint-Nazaire, from the beach of Villes Martin or near the beach of Kerlédé. Count approximately 3 hours of walk between the place du Commando and the beach of Sainte-Marguerite in Pornichet. For the less sporty, you can also stop at the beach of Monsieur Hulot to take the U3 or U2 bus to the city center of Saint-Nazaire (count then about 1h30 walk and 15 minutes by bus for the return). The gradient can sometimes be significant and the trail has a few stairs. Bring suitable clothing, good shoes and why not your swimsuit: the route is very shady and even allows for a short swim between two portions of the route!
