LANDSCAPE PARK

The green lung of the landscape park with its groves, greenery and lake was shaped by American soldiers who diked the Great Marshes in 1917. The site, which covers 50 hectares, was filled in in the 1950s with the rubble of the ruined city and sand from the Loire River. The main sports facilities of the city are there, including the Saucer labeled "heritage of the twentieth century. Numerous species of trees make up the park (poplars, maples, conifers, lime trees, etc.) and groves with spontaneous vegetation are worth mentioning. Finally, the banks have been developed and a beach for palmipedes has been created. The landscaped park also stands out thanks to its differentiated management: this area is maintained with respect for the environment and the biodiversity of the site.
