La saline "Tenue de Mareil"

Did you know? Situated between sea and countryside, in the Lyarne marsh, this salt marsh was rehabilitated by enthusiasts in the 2000s. Since then, the salt works have been revived by the Patrimoine 2MB association. Who works in the saltworks? Christophe Joguet, salt worker at the Tenue de Mareil saltworks, arrived at the end of 2023. He succeeds salt worker Mélanie Daspremont, who now operates the Ileau saltworks in Villeneuve-en-Retz. Why visit the saltworks? To discover the life-size workings of a salt marsh, observe the ancestral skills of the salt worker and taste this white gold. When can you visit the saltworks? Individual guided tours: in July and August on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 6pm (no reservation required). Tours last 1h30. Where to buy salt from the "Tenue de Mareil" saltworks? Directly from the saltworks, in July and August, Monday to Saturday, 10.30am to 12pm and 5.30pm to 7pm, by the salt worker. At the Moutiers-en-Retz Tourist Office and in the Villeneuve, La Bernerie, La Plaine, Préfailles and Saint-Michel Tourist Offices.
