Abbaye de la Roë is the first abbey of Robert d'Arbrissel founded in 1098 and the elder sister of the Royal Abbey of Fontevrault. First abbey of the order of canons regular founded in the diocese of Tours. Abandoned during the revolution, the abbey began to be reborn in the 17th and 18th centuries with the reconstruction of the abbot's dwelling and the monastery buildings that still exist.
