The church of the Madeleine is a 19th century building in the centre of Pouancé, a small town on the border between Brittany and Anjou.

CLOSURE DURING WORKS In the 11th century, the church of the Madeleine was still only a priory managed by monks. It was only after the revolution that it became the seat of the parish. The present building dates from the 19th century. It consists of a bell tower and a nave with three aisles The organ is one of the remarkable elements of the church and was built in 1863, as well as one of the stained glass windows on the south wall made by Gabriel Loire, a native of Pouancé and master glass artist in Chartres.
