MUSEE DE L'ARDOISE ET DE LA GEOLOGIE

The museum of slate and geology is installed on the site of Longchamp. It is the last exploitation of the Renazé basin, closed in 1975. The old buildings have been preserved. The centerpiece of this authentic heritage site is the headframe of the extraction shaft and its astonishing machine room. The guides will explain the stages of mining. You will discover the carriages, the collections of tools, the giant photos of life down there. On the splitters' mound, the former slate quarrymen have reconstructed the "wind killers" of all eras.
