43ÈME FÊTE DES FLEURS

Since 1931, the people of Macairo have worked hard to bring the biennial flower festival to life... Originally, the Comité de bienfaisance, now the Comité des fêtes, had imagined a parade of bicycles and cars decorated with flowers. Over time, the event grew in scope, with the aim of harmonizing the theme of the float, dances and harmony. Construction techniques evolved from wooden structures to the use of metal beams and round iron. Millions of paper flowers are needed. Some floats use up to 50 shades of color! On the program for these two days: Sunday May 19: * 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Designer's market on Place Ste Marguerite. * 10.30am-12pm Aubade on Place St Marguerite and Place Henri Doizy. * 2.30pm Departure of the Rue Choletaise advertising caravan. * 3pm-7.30pm Parade. * 23h-23h30 Fireworks. 10am-2pm Fête Foraine place du Prieuré. Monday May 20th : * 10am-7pm Designers' market, place Ste Marguerite. * 10:30am-12pm Aubades, place Ste Marguerite & Henri Doizy. * 2:30pm departure from rue Choletaise. * 3pm-7.30pm Parade. * 9:30-11:30 p.m. Fireworks on the float. 10am-24pm Fair on Place du Prieuré. Itinerary: rue Choletaise, du Commerce, Jules Verne, La Fontaine, d'Anjou, du Commerce and Place Henri Doizy. Free admission and free program distributed a few days before the event.
