Discover Chemillé, rich in history and the European capital of medicinal plants.

Natural heritage is the watchword at Chemillé. As the French capital of medicinal plants, Chemillé offers you the opportunity to discover the "Camifolia" botanical garden. This green setting, with its thousand virtues, is made up of over 600 species of medicinal, aromatic and dye plants over a total area of 3.5 hectares. It's an opportunity to stroll around and awaken your senses for a sensory and unusual discovery. With its lush green hillsides, the Hyrôme Valley is the perfect place to stroll and connect with nature right in the heart of the city! The river was once very active with its grain mills, which were later used by the textile industry, such as laundries, dye works and wash houses, all of which have now virtually disappeared. In 2020, the valley was awarded the "Espace Naturel Sensible" (ENS) label. The label aims to preserve the quality of the sites, landscapes, natural environments and habitats, as well as the natural flood expansion fields. Maine-et-Loire currently has 90 Espaces Naturels Sensibles. The town is also rich in history. The Romanesque church of Notre-Dame, the ancient ramparts of the château and the Greneau bridge, the Quatres Moulins, the ruins of the collegiate church of Saint Léonard, the gateway (dating from the 12th-13th centuries and listed as a Historic Monument in 1976) and the château square, the church of Perrochères and the Lycée Robert d'Arbrissel are just some of the heritage buildings you can discover on our Chemillé city tour.
