One of the most beautiful Romanesque bell towers in Anjou.
Built at the end of the 11th century on the site of a former chapel, it would have been consecrated in 1096 by Pope Urban II, at the invitation of Pétronille de Chemillé, future abbess at the Abbey of Fontevraud The Romanesque church of Notre Dame has been remodelled several times but escaped the destruction of the Revolution To see: the triumphal arch, the recently restored bell tower, its numerous sculptures and also, the paintings on the interior walls of the building made from the 12th century to the 19th century. These have recently been freed from their 19th century whitewash and offer a beautiful pictorial ensemble depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament.
