At the crossroads of the Mayenne and Sarthe rivers, in Miré in Anjou, the castle of Vaux was built in the 15th century. It was the first residence of Jean Bourré (minister of Louis XI).
The castle of Vaux was the first residence built by Jean Bourré, between 1464 and 1468. The lord of the Plessis, a friend of Louis XI, would later build many others, such as Plessis-Bourré, Langeais or Jarzé. One of the rare testimonies of pre-renaissance architecture.
