Discover this small town in the heart of the Erve Valley and the Saulges Caves.

Established on the heights of the river Erve, the village of Saulges has two churches that are worth the detour, especially the Chapelle Saint-Pierre, one of the oldest religious monuments of the Mayenne. Its origins date back to the Merovingian period and you can admire rare wooden statues Saulges also offers the visitor a surprising natural heritage. In its sinuous valley you will discover a group of caves including the "Rochefort" and "Margot" caves which are open to the public. The vegetation there is unusual for western France with moors and dry grasslands, boxwood and juniper trees. Hiking enthusiasts will be able to reach the canyon by a path from the village; you may encounter the aurochs that have been introduced to the site!
