LE VIEIL BAUGÉ

France > Pays de la Loire > Maine-et-Loire > 49150 > Baugé-en-Anjou

With its 1353 inhabitants, the Vieil-Baugé is one of the richest communes in the history of the Baugeois region

It was in fact at the Vieil-Baugé that the battle of 1421 took place between the English and the French, who were themselves allied with the Scots. The town's coat of arms still bears witness to this victory. The "pas de la mule" is part of the legend which formed around these fights. By taking the small streets that start from the church square, you will discover, at the bottom of a paved street, the charm of the wash house and the old buildings. The relaxation area with its lake and picnic area, will offer you walks and good time. Take the opportunity to stroll along the banks of the Couasnon where 12 mills were once in operation and from where you can observe the church of St Symphorien with its oddly twisted and twisted bell tower.
