Château de Malicorne-sur-Sarthe

The construction of the castle of Malicorne began in the 12th century on the site of a swamp. On the border between Maine and Anjou, this fortress had the role of guarding the gates of Maine. From the Renaissance, it became a meeting place for the great men of the kingdom, such as the writer Madame de Sévigné. In poor condition, the medieval castle was rebuilt in the 18th century.
