Maison de l'Eau - Arche de la Nature

France > Pays de la Loire > Sarthe > 72000 > Le Mans > 51 rue de l'Esterel

The Maison de l'Eau with its aquariums, its paddle wheel and its old steam engines, is a major site of tourism in Sarthe.

On the banks of the Huisne, just a stone?s throw from the town, the former drinking water production plant reveals a unique industrial heritage: steam and hydraulic engines, paddlewheels and the Bollée wind turbine. Now an educational center for water and energy, the Maison de l'Eau offers interactive modules on the water cycle, life in the river, including large aquariums on freshwater fish, and an exhibition on energy. Since March 2024, the Maison de l'Eau has been protected as a historic monument. 51 rue de l'Estérel - 72100 Le Mans Bus (line 6), Tramway: Espal stop.
