To the assault on the hills of Rosay
The nickname coudrais, or coudrier, the ancient name for hazelnut, evokes the frequent presence of this shrub in the bocage hedges of the commune, which has been established on the first valleys of the Bonnétable plateau, along the Rosay valley, since at least the 11th century. 20 farms and 50 bordages were recorded in 1692, and 25 farms and 150 bordages in 1841, producing mainly cereals and hemp, and feeding horses and a few cattle on the meadows bordering the Rosay. In this valley where the Rosay meanders, the Saint-Aubin-des-Coudrais itinerary reveals several viewpoints from the Perche Sarthois hills. Map and full route description available in the Guide Rando du Perche Sarthois (46 circuits). On sale at Perche Sarthois tourist offices for 6?
