Randonnée historique W3-Quartier Général Allemand à Saint Rimay

France > Centre-Val de Loire > Loir-et-Cher > 41800 > Saint-Rimay > 7 rue du Tunnel

Date:

Leave on the steps of History for a historical hike of 3h30 for a course of 6km.

Historical walk W3-German headquarters in Saint Rimay. After the invasion of the Northern European countries, Adolf Hitler decided to build 3 headquarters: W1 in Belgium, W2 in Aisne and W3 in Saint-Rimay, in order to be able to direct military operations as close as possible, on the Atlantic front. W3 or Ravin du Loup 3, whose construction took place between June 1942 and August 1943, around the railway tunnel of St-Rimay, is still the witness of it. Beyond this former unfinished German headquarters, this visit, through the surrounding hillsides, will make you discover the numerous annex works, still present (bunkers, DCA platform, telephone exchange...). Bring a flashlight and walking shoes. Reservations strongly advised.
