Situated in the heart of Vierzon, at the confluence of the Cher and the Yèvre rivers, Marie Island is one of the 19 islands that still mark the course of the Cher as far as Saint-Aignan. Covering an area of 3 hectares, it is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. Among the grasses of the meadow, in the heart of the island, at the foot of the ruins of an old house, the praying mantis and the graceful conocephalus will astonish you by their shape and morals. The European Beaver is an occasional visitor to Mary Island. In order to take full advantage of this vast natural area, an 800-metre signposted route with its 6 themed bollards has been laid out, decorated with a welcome sign. An information leaflet is available from the tourist office.
