The Briquemaut lock site is located on the Briare Canal at Châtillon Coligny. It is a State property managed by the Voies Navigables de France.
Built during the fourth quarter of the 19th century, the site consists of a lock with a sluice, the lockmaster's house and a metal drawbridge with a boom, built around 1889, at the same time as the house. The deck pivots around an axis driven by a counterweight, allowing the tow rope to pass through without interrupting the manoeuvre, while increasing the level of the air draft. It is the last structure of this type (on the network studied) still in working order.
