Discover Isdes, a charming little village in the Sologne region on the edge of the Loiret.
Isdes is a fine example of 19th century Solognese architecture, with its harmonious traditional brick construction and its houses lined up along the main street. It was at this time that the village, which was very much involved in the Sologne renovation movement and became an important centre for sheep farming, took on its present appearance: pretty brick houses replaced the old mud and timber-framed constructions. The Notre-Dame church is the testimony of a history that goes back to the beginning of the 12th century. The nave, extended by a Romanesque apse in the form of a cul de four, was enlarged in the 17th century, on its southern side, with an awning or "caquetoire" and a small half-timbered building used as a sacristy.
