The Causse Méjean is part of the Grands Causses located in the southern part of the Massif Central. Covering an area of 340 km², it is the highest of the Caussenard plateaus with an altitude ranging from 800 to 1247 metres. The Causse Méjean is a limestone land with rounded reliefs, depressions and dolomitic chaos that break the monotony of this plateau. The borders are made with rivers which have carved real canyons: the Tarn to the north and west, the Tarnon to the east and the Jonte to the south The Causse Méjean is right in the middle of the Causses & Cévennes site inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
