Magnificent park laid out with gardens and theme plots, playgrounds...

The Villa Burrus park, covering an area of 3.4 hectares, is home to remarkable trees planted from the outset: American red oak, lime trees, maples, cedar, majestic ash and beautiful purple beeches. New species have been introduced more recently: tulipwood, ginkgo biloba, sequoia, morus nigra, albizias.. The park is now maintained by the CCVA and the volunteer association Un Jardin Passionnément, which has created several themed plots since 2003: a "wild" undergrowth, a garden of aromatic and medicinal plants, a 7-acre flowered vegetable garden with an original structure, an educational pond, a tunnel of 230 rosebushes and a unique patchwork garden of 18 plots planted with perennials, designed according to the golden ratio rule. Each square plot features a traditional patchwork pattern, an art developed by the Amish community born in Sainte Marie aux Mines at the end of the 17th century The beautiful old greenhouse, the basin, the restored gazebo and the old outbuildings are all landmarks for the visitor and contribute to the harmony of this magnificent space full of serenity. In 2013, the association created Physalis, an imposing structure made of live willow and built by 250 volunteers as part of a participatory workcamp. The Villa Burrus Park estate was developed by the industrialist and botanical enthusiast André Burrus in 1935, who lived here until 1974. Transformed into a regional house of music between 1977 and 1990, the property was bought in 1997 by the Communauté de Communes She set up her offices in the former garages and transformed the Villa into a media library (2004).
