L'Eglise de la Burnkirch

There are places bathed in mystery, poetry and magnetism and this is certainly the case of the Burnkirch Church in Illfurth, often painted, photographed and visited. Its foundation dates back to the 8th century, it was the "ecclesia matrix" (mother church) of the village and it was here that the exorcism of the young Joseph Burner took place in 1869. It contains 15th century frescoes and the tomb of the knight Godefroy de Burnkirch. Its frescoes are classified as Historic Monuments.
