The "Storcka" - stork in Alsatian - is the name given to the inhabitants of the city of Cernay. A dedicated park is located in the heart of the city where many storks live happily in summer and winter.
Emblematic image of Alsace, the stork is also that of the city of Cernay. In 1978, one of the first centers for the reintroduction of this bird was established in the city to contribute to its protection. It houses about sixty storks sedentary. In Cernay, there are about 50 pairs of storks of which 20 are completely sedentary. Each year, there are about 30 births. The storks walk freely in the city and usually go to the park for meals.
