The abbey of Pairis is a Cistercian abbey founded in 1138 by Count Ulrich de Ferette. It played an important role in the propagation of the order of Citeaux. The monks of Pairis were notably part of the crusade of Constantinople. Since 1328, this abbey has also been the owner of wine estates formerly called "Zum Kefersberg" but nowadays called "Kaefferkopf". Finally, following a fire from an unknown source, the abbey has been the victim of numerous damages. In the 19th century, the ruins of the porch and the surrounding wall were exploited to create a hospice as well as a hospital visible today.
