Chênes napoléoniens

France > Grand Est > Bas-Rhin > 67320 > Hirschland

These two four hundred year old oaks owe their name "NAPOLEON" to their stocky silhouette and their legendary existence, identical to that of the Emperor of the French, Napoleon I. Respectively heights of 24 and 22 m, trunk circumferences: 4.50 m and 5.85 m. They have remained the living witnesses of an ancient form of forest exploitation, coppicing under a forest stand. They are also the silent witnesses of four centuries of rivalries and conflicts that have led to an alternation of sovereignty over this land and nationality for its inhabitants. Presence of a geoaching cache.
