Refuge du Hus

Authentic "guarded" mountain hut, overlooking the Upper Thur Valley, located southwest of the Herrenberg Pass (GR5) on the Kruth municipal territory. Accommodation for hikers, skiers and mountain lovers wishing to spend the night (reservation required) or to take shelter for a meal. Open every weekend with a volunteer guard staying on site. Also during certain periods of school vacations and every day from 14/7 to 15/8 (other dates on request and according to availability). Ideal place to discover the flora and fauna of the Hautes-Vosges, to observe the stars but also to practice hiking, snowshoeing or skiing. The refuge cannot be rented in its entirety, nor for a festive event. It is limited to groups of 10 people maximum with a mandatory reservation. Our friends the animals are not accepted. You will find all the necessary equipment to prepare your meals because the association does not serve meals or drinks. For the night, you will need to bring a sheet or a sleeping bag and a flashlight. Near three summer farms open 5 to 6 months of the year : Auberge HUSS, Ferme-Auberge du SCHAFERT, Ferme-Auberge du STEINWASEN Accessible by train and then on foot by the Club Vosgien trails (in the absence of snow) from the SNCF / TER station in Metzeral (3h) or Kruth (2h). In bad winter conditions, the ascent by Kruth is to be preferred.
