Discover the Altenweiher Lake in its natural setting.
The Altenweiher lake lies at the bottom of the Mittlach valley. At an altitude of 926 metres, it is surrounded by the peaks of the Kastelberg and Rainkopf. It has a surface area of 7.5 hectares and a depth of 14 metres. A straight dike 112 m long by 15 m high and 4 m wide at the top, built between 1886 and 1889, makes it a reservoir of 70,000 cubic metres. The Altenweiher lake can be reached on foot from the village of Mittlach (1h walk) or from the ridges (45 min descent on foot). A golden coach would be swallowed up there.
