SUR LES TRACES DES ROMAINS

Hiking trail N°19 - 3h - 10km - Medium. Starting from the bastide town of Montréal-du-Gers (one of the first in Gascony), this itinerary passes through the Gallo-Roman villa of Séviac with its exceptional collection of polychrome mosaics (4th century) preserved on more than 600m2, as well as its baths in perfect condition. After discovering the fortified houses that surrounded Montréal (built on the site of a Celtiberian oppidum), the path follows the Way of Saint James of Compostela coming from Puy-en-Velay and takes you back to the Romanesque chapel of Saint Pierre de Genens (12th century) for a peaceful stop in a green area. On the way back, you will enjoy a surprising view of the bastide.
