These hereditary houses and farms were built from 1941 onwards by the German government, which allowed the application of Nazi theories: modernization, functionality, reorganization of society.

Built from 1941 onwards by the German government, the peasant housing estate consists of three housing models: small Arbeiter Wonhäuser for the workers, medium-sized farms for the Mittlere Landwirt (farmers) and large Erbhöfe, which are hereditary farms, supposed to be handed down from generation to generation. This is part of the so-called "New Order" programme for the reconstruction of the municipalities, which allows the application of Nazi theories: modernisation, functionality, reorganisation of society. It is also a propaganda operation. The peasant town of Marckolsheim is a remarkable example of the rural constructions of the New Order in Alsace.
