Conference theme: "Music, from oral tradition to scholarly writing". It's an opportunity to shed light on centuries of Music(s) where, from oral transmission to the first outline of codification, man has arrived in stages at the scholarly writing used today, writing that is always evolving according to the needs of musical composition. Jean-Marc LEBLANC, titular organist of the Clicquot/Cavaillé-Coll/Schwenkedel organs at St Thomas d'Aquin in Paris, has attempted to cram 4 centuries of organ music into a 1:00 concert. The richness of JM LEBLANC's program lies not only in its stylistic eclecticism, but also in the formidable "cast" of composers to be featured. Composers who have left a remarkable body of work, outstanding organists who have served the finest instruments of their time, and teachers committed to the transmission of their art. There's no doubt that this judicious choice of program will enable us to appreciate the colors and beautiful texture of sound offered by the organ of the Stoltz organ in the Abbatiale St Sauveur; a fitting tribute to this instrument and to the abbey church on these Heritage Days.
