Randonnée autour de la Chartreuse du Mont-Dieu

France > Grand Est > Ardennes > 08450 > La Neuville-à-Maire

Starting from the village of La Neuville-à-Maire (with the possibility of parking the vans on the town hall square), hikers will take part of the GR14 which crosses the Mont-Dieu national woods by white paths and a small asphalt road. This road takes you to the Chartreuse du Mont Dieu, dating from the 17th century. The main building dating from 1617, flanked by the Saint-Etienne pavilion, which houses a chapel, and the Saint-Bruno pavilion, formerly the ladies' hostel, buildings of the stables and the monks' walkway, the gardener's house, moat, all in pink and black brick, with door frames, windows and corners of the walls in dressed stone. The walk passes behind the Chartreuse, through the adjoining woods to the Barbière castle, followed by a passage in front of the Correrie farm. The return is via an asphalt road, then a white country lane and finally a forest path that joins the GR14. Some variants (present on the map) allow hikers to take different paths on the outward and return journey. The route of this circuit is given as an indication. To make this hike it is preferable to have the IGN 1/25 000 3010 West map. Thanks to the Association Ardennes et Crins de Verdure for this idea of a walk
