Les industries du Givonnais à cheval

It is an old factory as evidenced by the presence of ponds upstream of the building transformed shortly after 1870 into a mansion, take the road leading to Givonne and then the old road to Illy. At the very top, the viewpoint of the national forest allows you to admire the valley of the Givonne upstream. Turn right towards the football field in Illy, passing a recent factory. Then go down towards the Givonne valley, along the Talot wood. You arrive on the "Bouillonnais", the embankment of an old railway line which was built between 1903 and 1910 to link the Meuse, Givonne and Semoy valleys until 1933. Go up the Bouillonnais along the Hâtrelle stream to the place called "La Bacoulette", an old factory renovated into a house in the 1980s. Leave the Bouillonnais route and go through the old mill of La Hâtrelle, which has been transformed into a country house. At the crossroads, a fortified house that was part of the Maginot line is abandoned, then return to the Bouillonnais between the two viaducts. Approximately 4km further on, join the Douaire forest road which goes down to the "ten brothers' brook" with a recent water reservoir and a trout staircase. Follow the left bank of this brook until its confluence with the Givonne at the place called "les Glaynées" where the first factory along the river is located. Continuing on the right bank, you can see other factory remains (water reservoirs, some ruins) until you reach the château d'Olly. Then go back up in the forest to follow the Givonne on the left bank. You can then see successively: the Warcan, the Chataimont, the Jacquemotte and the Lamoir.
