L'ancien Tribunal de Rethel

France > Grand Est > Ardennes > 08300 > Rethel > 4 rue Lucien Drapier

The plans and specifications of the court are due to the architect Reimbeau, from Reims. This building is one of the oldest monuments of Rethel to have survived the destruction of the last two world wars, and was built in the last years of the Second Empire, and is in a style that was quite in honour at that time. Although not a masterpiece, the court of Rethel is not without elegance. Its construction began in 1867 and it was inaugurated in 1871. Part of the building housed, until 1987, the Museum of Rethel and the Porcien (founded in 1926).
