Viaduc d'Ariéthal

France > Grand Est > Ardennes > 08250 > Exermont

With its 200 metres long, 5 metres wide and 9 arches, the highest of which is 30 metres high, gain height by exploring the Ariétal viaduct! Built between 1932 and 1934, this structure allowed the railway to link Reims, Sedan and Metz. It was part of a complex designed to supply the Maginot line. Partially destroyed by the French in June 1940, it was repaired by the Germans in 1941; the rails were finally dismantled in 1943 and sent to the Eastern Front. Access : Between Grandpré and Varennes-en-Argonne on the D 946, take the direction of Exermont. Once in the village, take the first left. You cross a farmyard before reaching a small valley. Continue on your road for 1 km before reaching the work. It is forbidden to access the upper part of the viaduct. It is now unused, but for the most daring among you, the association Adrénaline Élastique offers you the experience of bungee jumping from the viaduct! So you jump?
