In partnership with Espace Patrimoine. The Château de Reynerie is a little-known site nestled in the heart of the Mirail district. This 18th-century architectural folly conceals many secrets.

A French garden, also registered as a historical monument, with a pond and rare and exotic species, completes the picture. Architecture, decorations, botany... This remarkable site opens its doors to you for a visit. Even if the family of Madame Dubarry, Louis XV's favorite, still arouses curiosity in the popular mind, it is above all the majesty and the intact decoration of this small castle that strikes the heart! Guillaume Dubarry had this pleasure house built for parties and called "Folie" between 1781 and 1783. Having a pied à terre in the center of town, he only came here on sunny days. He nevertheless endowed it with interiors worthy of the most prestigious Parisian salons. At the beginning of the 19th century, the castle passed from family to family without, miraculously, anything being altered. Already the owner of most of the park, classified as a Remarkable Garden, the city gradually bought the whole, between the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s, then the castle in 2008. Cleaned and refreshed, the history of this rare pearl is told to you by a guide who will emphasize the delicacy of the ornaments and the original interior arrangements of classical style: stucco panels representing bacchantes and candelabras, grisailles representing the four seasons, marble fireplaces, etc. If the original furniture is partly kept in the Paul Dupuy Museum of Precious Arts, the architecture still resounds with the echoes of 18th century lace petticoats...
