22 members of the Royal Sussex Regiment were killed on 10 September 1914. This monument, erected in 2014, commemorates the centennial of this battle and the men who lost their lives in it.
While all those who lost their lives in the 2 World Wars are honored on war memorials in towns and villages throughout the Sussex region, the Royal Sussex Regiment had no memorial in France, until the erection of the one in Priez, in 2014. This monument, composed of Portland stone and Indian black granite, was carved and erected by Simon Buchanan, a master carver and stonecutter from Kingston-upon-Thames.
