Chapelle Saint-Honorat

France > Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur > Bouches-du-Rhône > 13160 > Châteaurenard > 40 Rue du Moulin

Romanesque style chapel.

Built from 1102 in the Romanesque style by monks under the authority of the Abbey of Lérins, it was confiscated during the Revolution as national property and sold. Situated at the top of the rue du moulin, one can easily see the cul-de-four apse overflowing into the street. However, the chapel is intact and in a good state of preservation. The Grand Master of the Hospitallers, Foulques de Villaret is said to have been buried there in 1325. Registered on the list of Historic Monuments since 19 December 1972
