Eyragues : sur le chemin de la Transhumance

France > Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur > Bouches-du-Rhône > 13630 > Eyragues > Place de la Libération

Starting from the Provencal village of Eyragues, this easy trail takes you back to the region's agricultural past.

Between the Durance and the Alpilles, on the road from Châteaurenard to Saint-Rémy, in the fertile plain of the small Crau, is located the village of Eyragues. Eyragues is the generous Provence, flooded with sun, wrapped in the scents of thyme, rosemary and lavender that you can discover by walking the circuit "le Chemin de la Transhumance". The walker, while strolling along the narrow and quiet streets of the village to discover the old stones and the houses full of wisteria, will be able to discover the chapel of Sainte-Maxime of the XIth and XIIth centuries with its gothic apses and its bell tower of the XVIIIth. Another chapel, the Saint Bonnet chapel dating from the 11th century and enlarged in the 17th century, houses paleochristian sarcophagi. The summer festivities (the Floralies, the Saint-Eloi, the International Festival of Folkloric Groups, the Saint-Symphorien) and the numerous activities practiced make it one of the most animated villages of the country.
