Le Makeda

For a long time called the "Poste à Galène", the 103 rue Ferrari changes its name. From March 2019, welcome to Makeda, a name that the people of Marseille will quickly make their own, whether it be to meet there for a drink, discover the best emerging or not emerging bands of the moment or dance to the sound of DJs. A new name, a new team too, headed by the duo Francine Ouedraogo Bonnot and Aude Kaboré, and above all a new energy in the heart of this changing neighbourhood. If these two young women (barely more than half a century between them) are finally taking over the reins of this venue with the ideal gauge for concerts on a human scale, it is to defend their vision of contemporary music and its distribution in France's second city on a full-time basis. Indeed, since 2008, within the Orizon Sud association, this duo with contagious smiles has been imposing a very Marseilles-style idea of culture and living together. Their project can be summed up in two words: diversity and quality, two words that they conjugate at all tempos and with a pronounced taste for discovery. Trendsetters and discoverers of talent, these hosts are eager to welcome us, public or professionals, in a warm, chic and offbeat setting, evoking the spirit of the best clubs in the world's megacities as much as the more cosy spirit of the cabanon where we share moments of happiness and conviviality with friends. With four evenings a week, the Makeda offers a program that combines emerging music, alternative cultures and a festive spirit in a warm setting, both in its decoration and its welcome. With free access, Wednesdays open the week at Makeda around a knowledge to receive more than a concert or DJ-set, even if (acoustic) concert or DJ-set there may be... A la cool, then, just like at home, just like at home. From Thursday to Saturday, concerts, Dj-sets, parties, stepping stones, residence outings will make the news of Makeda. The programming will be done in collaboration with La Couveuse, a friendly structure located in the Ile-de-France region, which facilitates national and international partnerships. With no format limit, other than the physical size of this hall with a capacity of ... 280 spectators, Le Makeda is at the heart of the Phoenician system for the dissemination of contemporary music and the music industry throughout the country. Local and national promoters will be able to choose to rent the hall to organize their own events, and to entrust (or not) the promotion of their events to the Makeda team. This place of emergence of tomorrow's talents will also be a place of residence, of scenic work, a creative tool at the service of local as well as national or international artistic teams.
