The Château des Remparts is the emblematic historic site of Trets, welcoming the public all year round for numerous art exhibitions and cultural events. Dating from the 12th, 13th and 16th centuries, it's well worth a visit.

The Château des Remparts was originally a fortified castle, the beginning of its construction dates back to the end of the 12th century or the beginning of the 13th century. Initially defensive in character after its various loopholes, its machicolations and its system of ramparts, it was transformed over the centuries by the co-lords of Trets to make a beautiful seigneurial residence of pleasure and comfort. It was notably nicely decorated in the 17th century in the Baroque style, the main elements of which can be seen in the Wedding Hall today. Today the Château de Trets is a dynamic place, where different cultural events are organized during the season. Artistic exhibitions, school workshops, shows, theatres, concerts, conferences... animate the castle all year round. The courtyard of the castle is also used as a performance venue during the summer season with the hosting of concerts and open-air cinema. The Trets Tourist Office also offers guided tours of this major heritage site for the town and for local history.
