The Castrum of Cadarache was built in the Middle Ages. Both the castle and the village were surrounded by protective walls. There were 3 chapels.

The first castle was completely destroyed towards the end of the 14th century, and rebuilt a century later by the new owners in 1475. Finally, in 1919, it was restored and transformed by the CEA (Commissariat de l'Energie Atomique) into a reception hotel for outside workers who came to the Cadarache Nuclear Studies Centre for training. Today, not much remains of the medieval castle, except for one of the chapels. Groups can also visit the castle on request.
