Built by order of François I during his stay in Ardres in 1520 following the meeting of the Camp du Drap d'Or with Henri VIII, the fortifications were intended to defend the town from the assailants; they were reinforced by the underground wheat reserves. After descending the 12 meters deep you will discover the process of grain conservation.
