Eglise Saint Leu

France > Hauts-de-France > Oise > 60240 > Lierville > Le Boulleaume

On the edge of the park of the château du Boulleaume, built in the 17th century by Antoine de Joigny and largely redesigned in the 19th century, the chapel of Saint-Leu is a very interesting small homogeneous construction from the 14th century, probably contemporary with the work done on the choir of Lierville. Its plan is rectangular and the façade superimposes a small portal with columns, a five-lobed rose (both very well restored) and a small double-arched bell tower. At the chevet opens a large window (also restored) with two trefoil lancets surmounted by a five-lobed rose. The interior, where the small gothic pool can still be seen, is especially remarkable for its frame, which is original. Small motifs repeated in alternation - fish, face, leaf - decorate the sablières. Dominique Vermand
