The abbey takes its name from the bishop of Autun, Saint-Léger, martyred in the 7th century, whose mother had retired to the abbey of Notre-Dame de Soissons. Don't miss the cloister in the purest Gothic style, with rich decorations, as well as the crypt and its chapel.
The abbey takes its name from the bishop of Autun, Saint-Léger, martyred in the 7th century, whose mother had retired to Notre-Dame de Soissons Abbey. Founded in 1139, the abbey follows a community of secular canons, the oldest mention of which dates back to 1070. Do not miss the cloister in the purest Gothic style, with rich decorations, as well as the crypt and its chapel.
