France > Hauts-de-France > Pas-de-Calais > 62153 > Souchez > 102 rue Pasteur

The Nécropole Nationale, the Anneau de la Mémoire and the Centre d?histoire: 3 sites to remember, understand and pay tribute to the soldiers of the First World War.

Do you know the story behind the name of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette hill? Have you ever noticed that the towers of the Vimy Memorial can be seen from Lorette? Do you know why part of the Ring cantilevers over the void? Every Sunday, come along on a tour that will give you all the keys you need to understand the 3 sites that make up the 14-18 Notre-Dame de Lorette Memorial: the History Centre, the Necropolis and the Memorial Ring. At the top of the hill, where the bodies of 42,000 soldiers who died in the First World War on the French and Belgian Artois and Flanders fronts lie forever, explore the Notre-Dame de Lorette Necropolis, France?s largest military cemetery. Visit the Anneau de la Mémoire, where since 2014, the names of almost 580,000 soldiers who fell on the soil of the Nord Pas-de-Calais region between 1914 and 1918 have been gathered: united in death, their names scroll endlessly across the golden panels, without distinction of nationality or rank. Then on to the Centre d'Histoire du Mémorial: its architecture of black concrete cubes and its permanent exhibition of objects, large-format photographs, interactive maps and films from the era, help visitors to understand the Great War in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region.
