Fort Séré de Rivière is the symbol of the heroism of the French soldiers during the battle of 1916. Commander Raynal and his men, besieged for 7 days, fought relentlessly under a rain of shells. They were finally defeated by thirst. To discover: the command post, the infirmary, the telecommunication post, the pigeon house, the Bourges casemate with its two 75 mm cannons? The visit of the fortress allows to understand the daily life conditions of the besieged fighters in the heart of the fortress, actors of a heroic drama which became a symbol of the resistance of the Verdun soldier. Allow 45 minutes to 1 hour for the visit. The temperature is low in the fort, so bring warm clothes and appropriate footwear. The ticket office closes 40 minutes before the closing time of the site.
