France > Grand Est > Vosges > 88300 > Neufchâteau

A protected resurgence of the Meuse, to be discovered in Neufchâteau in the Rouceux district. 400 metres from the town centre, the walk along the watering hole allows you to observe the wild Fario trout, numerous birds, a rich and varied flora, pollarded willows and an old wash house. The presence of the Common Toad, the Brown Trout and the Green and Yellow Snake justified the obtaining, in 1997, of a strong protection status: the APPB, Prefectural Order of Protection of Biotope. At Rouceux, the Meuse valley is a wide alluvial plain. The fluctuating water level, associated with a soil rich in sediment, are the criteria for the appearance of a megaphorbia, a plant group of tall grasses hosting specific animal species This site is protected and managed by the Conservation d'espaces naturels de Lorraine, in partnership with the commune.
