The Siege Well was built between 1679 and 1690 to supply the civilian population with water. It is 60 m deep and fed by a spring. It was given the name Bombproof Well because of its huge vaulted roof. Of the 5 wells dug in the past, it is the only one to remain and now houses the Tourist Office of Grand Longwy. The Siege Well is one of the stops on the guided tour of Vauban's fortifications, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
