MÉMORIAL DU VIEUX PRÉ

In the middle of the fields, near the pond of "Vieux pré" and close to the farm of Fossieux, this memorial close to the memorial of Noërs, was raised in memory of the French and German soldiers fallen on the battlefield on August 23 and 24, 1914 during the battle of Longuyon-Noërs This battle resulted in the loss of about 3,800 French soldiers, 900 of whom were killed, and about 2,500 German soldiers, 600 of whom were killed. The German progression was slowed down but not stopped.
